Definition of Industry
1: diligence in an employment or pursuit; especially : steady or habitual effort
2 : systematic labor especially for some useful purpose or the creation of something of value
Whether you’re constantly striving to be at the top of yours, currently on the lookout for the experiences others may offer, or asking that stranger you just met, “What do you do?” to understand theirs… Industries more now than ever seem to be running the world. And with good reason, immersing yourself within your own industry is the key to understanding and ultimately, thriving in it.
“I think we’re at a time where -in a more authentic sense than ever before- inclusivity really matters.” - KIRU
Identity encompasses various facets of our life, for artists, these industries are called by several names. Music, Art, Fashion to name a few. The lyrics of a song, paintings and sculptures, fashion sketches and garments... are all but vessels of self expression and instruments of inspiration for those attempting to set foot in said industries.
This week's style inspiration came from the industrial elements of the concrete, metal and textures found in the city scape we're surrounded in. Simple, yet a stark contrast to the solid white and olive tones within the outfit featured.
Changes in industries as we've seen over time are natural, unstoppable, and have the ability to be influenced by the people within them. "The fashion industry is quite old, but I still believe we’ll love to see the day where truly anyone can be seen and acknowledged as beautiful no matter their shape, size or ethnicity... to challenge the aristocratic oppressions faced within the industry, as well as to educate the youth." - KIRU
