There is something really special about the unique way in which we view ourselves. The inspiration of our internal experience and the influence of external opinions (suggestions, advertisements and observations) each play a part in the ultimate view of self.
Selfie-conscious creates an opportunity for us to explore some of the ways we view ourselves when we look into the mirror, when we step out into the world, and when we engage with others on the internet.
KIRU, Lead Artist for Selfie-Conscious
Selfie-Conscious is a project that takes a look at the surface of the self, and selfies, and then dives deeper into the intimate, soul-baring analytics of self-consciousness. For this ten-week developing project, a diverse group of individuals has been invited to contribute a written, visual, or audio experience that conveys the unique ways in which they view themselves, from the mirror, to the real world, to the internet.
Written articles will be featured on our Sunday Style Column (visit column), and a running feed of images, audio clips and quotes will be featured both on social media and the official exhibition page at KIRUNIVERSE.COM/selfie-conscious.
